1 month old- Already?

I'm stealing this idea from my friend Erin Whitmer, but starting a little late. My friend Misty gave this elephant for Brooklee, and I originally wanted to take a picture of Brooklee when she was born and take a picture every month to watch her grow, but we'll have to start with 1 month and see how continues to grows. Look how long those legs are!! Like she had a chance with parents like us!
The first month has been wonderful. Brooklee is such a great baby. She barely cries, eats and sleeps really well. What more could we ask for. She has been having some stomach problems this past week, but she's handling them really well. She's a tough little girl!

Happy 1st Fathers Day!

Happy 1st Fathers Day to Alex!

A lot has been going on in the month of June. Not only is it's Alex's birthday, but also Fathers Day. With Bryan and Katie's wedding on Alex's 24th birthday, Alex deserves a lot of love for not getting to celebrate his special day the way he would have liked to. He sure did look handsome in his brown pants and pink tie!

Alex has also been busy picking up extra shifts when he can, which makes him super tired when he gets home! I love these napping pictures!

I didn't get any pics on Fathers Day (shame on me!), but Alex received this cute little book for him and Brooklee from my mom, and as much as Brooklee knows her daddy loves her, she loves him 10 times more!! I also love the father of my baby girl and I am so grateful for ALL he does!

Week 3

Here we are all dressed up at the reception- which was beautiful!

I forgot how much my niece Abby and I look alike!

Here's are little princess all tuckered out from the long day!

This week Brooklee met my friend, Becky Smith's little girl Ella.
Ella is 9 days older than Brooklee.

Sadly, my brother Ash and his family moved to Virginia this week, and so this is the last picture we'll have of all the cousins together. Brooklee will miss Abby and Bryce.

I love this picture of this cute family with Brooklee. My brother Ash is in VA getting stuff ready for their big move :(

The Story:
It was just a regular Friday morning, and I was scheduled to go to my regular OB appointment at 9am. The hope was that baby girl had flipped around because she had been breech the whole pregnancy. If she hadn't flipped, then we had a version scheduled the following Tuesday. Well after a extremely long wait in the office, I finally got back to Dr. Erickson, and that's where we found out that she was still breech, which I already knew. We also found out that my water had broke, and I had a slow leak for a couple of days. The doctor admitted me to the hospital and there I waited for a phone call from Alex.
For Alex, this day was far from regular. He woke up super early to get ready for his MCAT exam. Around noon I got a call from Alex, and after briefly hearing about his test, I invited him to the hospital. He was quite surprised when he heard that we will be having the baby that day and responded, at least Heavenly Father answered that prayer (waiting until after the MCAT to have the baby). Alex and his mom, and then shortly after my mom and grandma showed up to the hospital and we waited again for Dr. Erickson to finish up at the office.
When the doctor arrived we attempted to do the version. There was little hope for success because I had little amniotic fluid in me, but I wanted to try. The version procedure was interesting. For those who don't know, the only medicine you are given is to relax your uterus. Other than that, they push on you and you just have to deal with the pain. It was quite uncomfortable, and although it was unsuccessful, I'm glad we attempted. Next, on the to do list- the C-section.
The C-section, was well a c-section. In my opinion a c-section is super easy. They numbed me all up and within minutes the baby was out and then they sewed everything back together again. It was extremely neat experience. Alex would want me to add that "Babe" by Styx was playing in the operating room while they were delivering the baby! The first time I saw Brooklee, I was filled with joy and tears. It was so hard to believe that after so long, our little girl was actually here! Alex then followed the nurses around as they did the quick clean, and when he was able to hold her, he brought her over to me so I could give her lots of kisses- something she will be smothered with for the rest of her life!!!
